Rumors Set Design and Construction

The Project
For a school performance I was tasked with designing and constructing the set for the show Rumors. The director wished for a two story set with visible stairs and an upper story.
My Approach
The original design was created by me and two others including the director. We worked to accommodate for material and cost being minimal, and worked around this by re-purposing the set used in anything goes, as well as the UIL set, which is a uniform group of set pieces used in a competition.
Bumps in the road
Partway through the construction we were informed that the space we were using would need to be emptied so that another group could come in and use it. Additionally we were informed that due to time constraints the stage would be occupied until about 45 minutes before we performed, so we had to make sure that this set could be then brought onstage and assembled in that time and still be secure for the actors to walk to the second story and act up there.
Final Product
We ended up with a set made of 5 segments, 3 on the base that were crafted from the Anything Goes set, and two on the top that created the facade, the two on the top were flown in through the fly system.
