The Project

For a school performance I was tasked with designing and constructing the set for the show Anything Goes. The director asked for a total of 4 different “rooms” and the deck of a cruise ship for the stage.

My Approach

We originally looked at the stage recording for inspiration. It was helpful but we ended up deciding on a revolving set that would remain onstage the entire time to save the minimal space backstage.

Bumps in the road

We had to adjust the revolve into three separate “Rooms” that could be turned independently and be moved to center stage to draw focus, and with an open back to each room, one could be changed partway through the performance to another space.

Final product

The three rooms looked like the cruise ship on one side to go with the backdrop and could be moved around to allow for access and view of the interior rooms.
